This week we started our after school program Gallery Group. I have a lot of amazing places for us to visit but we started with possibly the most exciting. Marina Abrovomic's The Generator. Its a sensory deprivation experience where they blindfold you and put on noise canceling headphones then lead you into an open space where you are invited to explore without sight or hearing. They documented the experience with some cameras in the room. See the photos below. Can you spot me?
8th grade EEE Photography went to see the Salvador Selgado show at ICP last week. The show is so beautiful and meaningful. But the trip was great because we got to go across the street and see the school. We went in a working b/w darkroom and saw what a real digital lab looks like! Check out this shot for shot remake of the Ghostbusters trailer by some middle schoolers. Via Uproxx GhostBOSters Trailer from Real To Reel on Vimeo. Here's some more detailed information about some things we didn't get to talk to deeply about in Photography Class today.
