To celebrate the magazine Art in America's 100th anniversary this month, with the purchase of the May edition ($11) you get a lithography by the famous American Artist Jasper Johns. A lithograph is a style of printmaking that uses the idea that water and oil do not mix. The artist uses a greasy crayon to draw their image then transfers it to a stone. They then use an ink that bonds with the crayon and puts water over places they dont want the ink to go. Then using pressure they "stamp" it onto paper.
I was able to find a copy of the magazine but the store upped the price to $20 because this edition was in such high demand. Its still not that much money for a piece I really like. I also like supporting Art in America and have the fun memory of finding a copy of the magazine! Get your own! Happy Hunting!
